The Theory of Relativity has been taught by students to have a better understand of Albert Einstein's ideas and opinions. Some know that the Theory of Relativity effects our society in many ways. When studying the this Theory students should know Albert Einstein's idea, collapsed stars, and time dilation.
In 1919 Albert Einstein was working on an experiment that made him a celeberity. "In his experiment he confirmed that light rays from distant stars were deflected by the gravity of the sun in just the amount he had predicted in his theory of gravity, general relativity." (Lightmen). Einstein's Theory of Relativity was a major find and based as he based it off of Sir Issac Newton's ideas on gravity. Einstein's Theory of Relativity effects gravity since space and time is wrapped around it.The way he propsed Relativity is distance and time are not the same. With these findings other factors came into play like collapsed stars and time dilation.
We all have seen a sci-fi movie and some may even have a dangerous adventure into space and have come upon a black hole. What do we really know about them?
A collapsing star in space
According to some scienist black holes start from collasped stars. "The possibility that starts could collapse to from black holes was first theoretically "discoved" in 1939 by J. Robert Oppenheimer and Harland Snyder, who were manipulating the equations of Einstein's general relativity". (Lightmen). Some scientist believe black holes are started by collapsing stars. A black hole attracts a gravtational force so massive not even light can escape it. Scientist believe the reason they are started by collapsing stars is because when a star collapese it is able to support itself with its own heat causing a nuclear reaction. Thus some believe there are black holes somewhere out in space 10 times bigger then our sun.
Ever feel like time goes to fast or to slow? Ever find yourself at an event your enjoy and already an hour has passed? These factors can be explain by Time Dilation.Time Dilation means the loss of time of a moving clock observed by a stationary observer. For example the ticking of a clock depends on the motion of the person and the same way with length. This idea affects intervals of time and space under the key idea of the equivalence principle. When one direction is equal to accleration in the opposite direction. Baiscally it's like the push and pull factor. "Each observer will see the clocks in the other laboratory as ticking more slowly than the clocks in his/her own." (SLAC).
Since Einstein discover the Theory of Relativity we are able to understand Physics and much more. Imagine, if Einstein did not discover the Theory of Relativity where would we be today? Would we know how his theory effects gravity and space. All we know is that thanks to Albert Einstein we can understand the advances of his Theory of Relativity.
I chose the first site because it explains how gravity is importantant in the Theory of Relativity. It also explains collapsing stars and in space. This site is creditable because the author is part of an organization calle NOVA it explores the scineces of the world and to give people a better understanding of any type of science.
I chose the second site because breaks down the understanding of the Relativity in a way students can understand.
